The Texas Defense Academy lead instructors are highly trained with years of experience in multiple disciplines, including physical fitness, martial arts, wrestling, and firearms. We maintain a high standard of professionalism for the sake of our students and the general public. We seek to provide a high quality training experience, giving you only the the best in personal protection, self defense, and martial arts instruction.
Edwin Rodriguez: Edwin is the backbone of the school and one of our lead instructors. Passionate about self defense and martial arts training, Edwin is highly ranked in the Keysi Fighting Method, holds a Level 2 in CSW student, former ACWA Combatives instructor and is lead instructor for the Pekti Tirsia Kali program under the guidance of Tuhon Tim Waid. He is also one of the four creators of Ballistic3 – The Study of Motion. He continues to seek knowledge outside of TDA to better himself, his fellow instructors and members of the TDA. Edwin is truly a “people person” who goes above and beyond for the students of the TDA.
Bryan Malatesta: Bryan is passionate about fitness and training, always seeking a better solution for those who are truly in need. Bryan is an original founder of the Texas Defense Academy, having first begun his teaching journey in 2008 under the name Keysi Fighting Method – Fort Worth (KFM Fort Worth). Bryan is one of the four creators of the Ballistic3 program and is also the head coach for the Combat Submission Wrestling program here at TDA. Bryan also holds a Basic Pistol teaching certification from the NRA, is a Texas state licensed LTC instructor, and is a former ACWA Combatives instructor.
